Setting the record straight

Based on the various items that I’ve posted on this weblog, it may appear as if our time in Singapore is mainly about eating, sight-seeing, swimming, experimenting with public transit and relaxing!  But that is not really the whole picture…

I think it’s hard for me to get motivated to take pictures during our lecture or worship times.  Plus, it probably would be a bit distracting to the speakers.  I may take a few photos this week to show you what we’re actually doing 75% of the time.  Here’s a few bullet points of the types of activities we’ve been doing during orientation:

  • listening to testimonies from each new member heading to their cross-cultural work environment
  • listening to testimonies of the leaders or our fellowship
  • taking part in daily worship and prayer times
  • being briefed on health concerns in cross-cultural situations
  • being briefed on the history, mission, and vision of our organization
  • hearing about various areas where work is being done and about projected focus areas over the next 10 years
  • taking part in group Bible studies
  • learning about various education options for children living cross-culturally
  • visiting homes of the international directors
  • learning about ways to maintain physical, spiritual, emotional, and social health while living in a cross-cultural situation

There’s more topics to come in the last two weeks…

But in the meantime, here’s more pictures of relaxing, sight-seeing, and eating!
