We were told by a taxi driver that the Singapore Zoo was one of the finest and greatest zoos in the entire world. He claimed that unlike other zoos the one here in Singapore did not even smell. I thought this was funny and replied, "Really? So they found a way to make the animals smell good, did they?" He said, "Yes. They don’t smell." Or something along those lines. So we decided to check it out for ourselves…
As the pictures will show, it truly was as good as it was billed, but the tapirs and rhinos were still pretty stinky if you were standing downwind from them… All cultures are prone to exaggerate a bit. It did seem like the animals had more room to roam adn the ground were kept up pretty well. We’ll just say that the unsavory aromas were kept to a minimum.
