Sometimes the days right after Christmas seem like a recovery period. All the hustle and bustle, parties, food, and gift-giving takes its toll and leaves you a bit…exhausted.
Well, for us, this recovery period was a bit more acute this year. Not because of the usual elements of yuletide, but because our family contracted a nasty (i.e. nefarious, diabolical, and just plain unfriendly) stomach virus beginning in the early morning hours of December 26th.
Here’s the casualty listing in chronological order:
- Sarah – Dec 26th a.m.
- Todd – Dec 26th p.m.
- Anna – Dec 27th a.m.
- Christa – Dec 27th p.m.
Essentially, we were all suffering various symptoms (which will remain unnamed) for the better part of two days.
Yuck!
Positive elements: thankfully, the virus swept through here pretty quickly. Today our family crawled out from under the rock we had slithered under two days ago. I am happily looking leaner and meaner. AND due to the effects of the stomach virus I also went through an unplanned and somewhat painful withdrawal process from my caffeine addiction. I don’t recommend going cold turkey like that, but it was a quicker and more effective method I suppose.
