With apologies to my dad

·

I come from a long lineage of golf lovers. Unfortunately for my family name this golfing gene was not passed through to my DNA. This quote kind of sums up my sentiments on the subject of golfing:

I have never understood the appeal of golf. Which is odd because I’m quite partial to the game of Mini Golf. The game in miniature makes perfect sense and, ironically, Crazy Golf makes even more sense. In fact, the worse the spelling of ‘Crazy’ the more inclined I am to like the course. You spell it with a ‘K’ and I’ll be there, and the more ‘Z’s involved you know you’re going to find bigger windmills, steeper climbs, and obstacles of an altogether more Heath Robinson-style design. All of which makes for a far more enjoyable game. It can be played in under an hour, wearing ordinary trousers, and the walk isn’t too strenuous. There is in fact, nothing ‘crazy’ about ‘Krazzzy Golf’ at all. However, spending the whole afternoon carrying a very heavy bag around for a very long walk while stopping from time to time to hit a ball with a stick….well…that’s crazy.

I know what your rebuttal to this argument will be, golf lovers: golf carts. But in my mind that just makes it all the more crazier…sorry.
