Christa and I have been watching the show Monk lately.  We like the obsessive compulsive detective and find the slow-paced murder mystery genre to be quite relaxing (other than the actual murder of course.)  Tonight I saw my favorite episode to date from the second season.  It was the one where we are introduced to Adrian Monk’s equally dysfunctional brother Ambrose (play by John Turturro).  In true Monk fashion, the show was bizarre and witty.  I appreciated that the two brothers were so similar and I thought Turturro was great as Ambrose.  This little bit of dialogue also made me laugh:

Adrian:  [speaking to Sharona about Ambrose] He can speak 7 languages.

Ambrose: [sounding a bit defensive]  I can speak 7 and 1/2!  I am teaching myself Mandarin.

Adrian: [sardonically] Yeah, that will come in pretty handy.

(It’s probably a little funnier for those of us who are using Mandarin for our daily survival, but I thought I would share it anyway.)
