Scene 1: Our company had a meeting yesterday in which we talked about what it means to go through a transition. Specifically we talked about the various emotional stages (or patterns) that can be observed when people are experiencing transition. We had a nice hand-out diagram and a nice "exercise" to explore these various stages.
Scene 2: As is often the case around the Johnson home, where you initially place something (like a handout) is not always where the item eventually ends up. This became apparent when we noticed some of the words Anna had copied onto the back of her self-published booklet she’s been working on.
Observe here (click on the image):
This is not your typical C-A-T or D-O-G. Look at the last line first…
A-N-X-I-E-T-Y.
There is also U-N-C-E-R-T-A-I-N-T-Y (or most of it), T-H-R (E-A-T being stacked on top due to spacing issues) H-A-P-P-I-N-E-S, and in the upper right hand corner…G-U-I-L-T (written in a circular pattern). The penmanship is quite nice, but the subject matter is a bit heavy for a kindergartener I think.
Moral of the story: Make sure you walk your preschooler through the whole diagram on transition (all the way to Moving Forward) before you leave the sheet lying on the coffee table. Otherwise they may end up stuck in D-E-P-R-E-S-S-I-O-N…
