a plug for a good cause

·

Some people run, others bicycle, and still others swim.  And the really crazy ones do all three at the same time–competitively!?!  My brother-in-law, Peter, is one of these iron-men.  Besides being physically fit enough to actually compete in a triathlon, Pete’s also got a lot of heart and character.  In fact, the next triathlon he plans to participate in is for a really good cause.  It is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training®  “Lavaman
Triathlon” taking place April 2007 in Kona, Hawaii.

Pete

You might be asking, "Why would anyone in their right mind want to swim 1.5K, then bike for 40K, only to follow that up with 10K run (even if it is in Kona, Hawaii)?"  Well, add to that the fact that the guy has to raise $5600 to even be able to punish himself in this manner.  "Why, indeed?"

The main reason he’s doing it is this: he can help save lives.  The money Pete is raising to participate in this triathlon will help fund research that will help find a cure to fight the deadly effects of leukemia and lymphoma.

The two main reasons I am blogging about this now:

  1. I think Pete’s willingness to do this is admirable and this is one way I can help support what he is doing by getting the word out there.  Pete has also currently raised nearly half of the $5600 goal and I’d like to see him pushed to 100% and beyond before the deadline.  Maybe you can help in some way, too?
  2. Pete is throwing a benefit party in Seattle on March 9th called Fuel for a Cause.  This is another way to raise funds for this worthy cause.  If you live in/near Seattle, and this sounds like something you might be interested in, maybe this is a way you can help him reach his goal?

So, if you are interested in donating and/or you’d like more information about the cause, click here.

If you are interesting in the fund-raising event/party and/or you’d like more information, click here.

Thanks for considering it on my behalf.

Pete, from China we send our love, prayers, and best wishes.  Hope you get the "fuel" and funds you need to punish your body in this manner.  (Better you than me! Ha.)  In all seriousness, we’re proud of what you are doing and look forward to hearing how it goes.  Best of Luck / Godspeed.

Love, Todd, Christa, Anna & Sarah
