chilly friday

Well, the good (warm) weather we’ve been enjoying in Xining took a turn today.  The sun is hidden behind overcast skies AND subsequently the temperatures have dropped.  Today the high is supposed to be 39 degrees Fahrenheit.  This should be the norm (actually much colder), but we’ve had a nice warm spell since returning from Thailand.  We’ve been spoiled.

Anna’s back in school three days a week, and it looks like Christa might have found a good Chinese Montessori pre-school on the other side of town for Sarah.  She would likely go three days a week as well.  The school had a lot of toys, a piano for singing songs, and friendly, interactive teachers.  A few other "foreign" kids will also be in Sarah’s class which is helpful.  Cross your fingers.  We’ll see how it goes…  Thanks for praying.

Our school doesn’t start for another 12 days (or, more likely, even more.)  Christa is studying a few hours every day already so she can catch up to where I am in the book.  She plans to join my class (of two) this semester.  Hopefully, we can get the same great teacher I had last semester and make some more progress.  It’s asking for a lot in this constantly changing learning environment.

Other than that, it’s a lot of thumb-twiddling for us.  If something interesting happens, you’ll be the first to know.  (Yawn.)
