new year’s firepower

·

The Chinese love fireworks.  And when I say they love fireworks, I mean, THEY LOVE FIREWORKS!
The latest indication: last night was The Lantern Festival  which means yet another holiday to light things on fire and make loud cannon-like sounds.

Since Anna had school this morning we didn’t venture out in the evening to see the lanterns hanging about town (I know we’re a bunch of wallflowers, but what can I say, it’s cold outside!)  Instead, we stayed inside and I did some (exciting) work on our computer.  But before I did that I tried to capture some of the pyro-mayhem around our complex.  I’m not a great photographer, but some of these images (while very blurry) will give you a sense for what we were seeing at least.  (Hearing is another story entirely!)

No,the tree is not on fire!  This is a firework going off above the apartment building across from ours.  (Click on the image to make it bigger…)

Bottle rockets launched from a third story apartment (across from ours…gulp.)

My little, Firestarter!

I’m kind of glad the holidays are about OVER because that means, a.) stores will be open again, and b.) school is starting soon…
