christa and sarah’s outing to datong

A few weeks ago (pre-Jianzha move) Christa and Sarah took an overnight trip to a village outside of Datong.  Datong is about 45 minutes to an hour north of Xining whereas we live a few hours south of Xining now.  Christa’s language partner from last semester, Maria, invited her to visit her home.  Maria and her family are Hui (a Chinese Muslim nationality living here in Qinghai and throughout China.)  She is studying at the Minorities College that we attended in Xining.

    what a wonderful trip it looks like they had. Beautiful pictures. The flowers and the farm were something else. Sarah looks like she had a great time.MER

    You got me with the tyson chicken. I can’t help but think twice now about purchasing the stuff. 🙂 They decorate like that in Russia, too. The photos are great.

    Great photos & captions! Isn’t it crazy to think you’re the first foreigners a lot of these people have ever seen? There are so many remote places in the world like that. I love that Christa and Sarah had a special trip together 🙂
