archery without the arrows

·

I am embarrassed to admit this a little bit, but here goes.  This past week Jianzha hosted a really big archery competition in which I think 6 different provinces (and quite a few minority nationalities, e.g. Tibetan) were represented.  The event was a 3-4 day competition that had some impact on how they choose their Olympic team (I think? Or maybe not, but they used the logo anyway) and they basically remodeled the town arena so they could host a big gala-type opening ceremony that would be televised.

And I didn’t see one arrow fired.

Yeah, it’s pretty pathetic.  We went to the rehearsal and then the actual Opening Ceremony (which was really a big concert type thing) and I kept planning to go to see some of the archery…and then one thing lead to another, I got obsessed with my rat hunting and home-schooling, and I just found out today…the competition is already OVER!!!  Drat.  It snuck up on me and abruptly ended.  What’s really sad is that the competition took place mere yards from the library.  Oh well, at least the concert was entertaining.  I got to see Da Shan if that means anything to you.  (Further explanation in the photo album pages…)

It wasn’t a bull’s eye, but here’s the photo album of what we did see.
