Anna lost another tooth yesterday in Xining.  Her adult tooth on top has been coming in and it pushed one of the baby teeth next to it out on its way in.  Meanwhile the Johnson family packed its bags and headed back to Jianzha after a long weekend of birthday festivities and re-stocking of supplies.

Anna was a bit traumatized this morning when she discovered the tooth fairy DID NOT come last night to claim this new tooth–leaving cash in its place.

Uh-oh. 

In our bleary-eyed state this morning Christa and I tried to reassure Anna by blurting out many possible reasons why the tooth fairy hadn’t come for the tooth as expected.

"She probably thought we were in Xining, Anna."

"Maybe she’s doing some side-projects for Santa Claus."

"She was probably on a little vacation at the beach yesterday…I’m sure she’ll get it tonight.  And she’ll probably add a little extra somethin’ for being late."

That forgetful tooth fairy!  Sleeping on the job again.  Let’s hope she’s back on her A-game tonight…for Anna’s sake.  Oh, the unexpected trials and tribulations of parenting…
