I have been reading this book about this guy who gets "lost" in time.  He doesn’t know when it will happen or where he will end up.  Certain things can incite his time-traveling episodes and certain other things help him to stay put, but ultimately he cannot control "when" or where he will go within his own timeline.

It’s an interesting concept.

Lately I’ve been feeling like a guy who is lost in location instead of time.  Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Prachuap, Singapore, Chengdu, Xining, Jianzha, Louisville, Beijing…I don’t know anymore.  I have slept in so many different places in the last 6 months it’s beyond belief.  I think I counted nine different beds in February alone or something ridiculous like that.  If it wasn’t so funny it would get a bit disorientating. 

Right now we are back in Jianzha staying at a guest flat that we moved into in January.  It’s a comfortable place–a bit chilly–but, thankfully, rat-free.  We have to figure it out though.  It’s a temporary set-up for us.  You’ve heard about spreading yourself thin.  Well, we like to spread ourselves out.  We’re currently using the internet at a friend’s apartment a block away from the guest flat.  We also are using the washing machine at this flat and the shower (hot water is a big motivating factor there!)  Our friend is currently away or this would NOT be very convenient for her. 

Our home in Xining has all of these wonderful appliances, furniture, and luxuries, except we’ve had to plunder many of the needed items that we use daily (e.g. clothes, coffee pot, toaster oven, toys, linens, etc.) in order to live here.  Because we are still looking after our other friends’ home until they return, we essentially are NOW taking care of (and sporadically utilizing) 4 different homes in two different cities!

Huh?  How does this stuff happen?  The laughable part is that we’ll eventually be packing everything back up here and taking it back to Xining in May and then packing up a subset of that and taking it all the way back to Seattle!  Then on to Tacoma, Spokane, Helena, Bozeman, Riverside, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Sanibel Island, Everyplace, TN…argh!  Can’t think about it in totality like that.  Best to take baby steps…

And, oh yeah, by the way, where am I?  I guess I’m HERE…for a few moments anyway.
