losing facebook

·

I deactivated my FB account yesterday.  It felt so liberating–I gotta admit.  Like throwing a bunch of old file folders into the recyle bin.

I was curious about FB because of all the initial invites, and after joining it I did make some cool connections with old friends, but ultimately I think it just was another huge (argueably voyeuristic) distraction for me.  And since I am an easily distracted person well it became a huge time-waster, too.

FB definitely put a crimp in my blogging, but didn't provide the same satisfaction of actually writing or posting something original.  So in order to streamline my life a little bit I pulled the plug on it.

I guess if you want to contact me now you'll have to go to all the trouble of a.) commenting here, or b.) emailing me the old-fashioned way.  How antiquated.  Sorry if I "added you as a friend" recently and then just disappeared. I thought an explanation was in order.

If you think this was a strange move, it's important to remember that I'm the same guy who threw away my high school yearbooks.  Me choosing to abandon such a wildly popular online social networking tool was bound to happen eventually.

The yeti is in the cave…

  2. i miss giving greg a hard time, but i really haven’t missed it much. it felt quite freeing. christa can show me pictures you post whenever she goes out to her FB account (which actually isn’t very often.)

  3. The funny thing about your dropping off the facebook map, likely a plan of Kalimpong Spanky, is that I now have a perpetual poke delivered by you. Really stinkin’ funny.

  4. to boaz: YES!!! Sweet victory!!!
