4-day weekend

Since the girls were out of school on Friday we enjoyed a 4-day weekend.  The weather was amazing!  Sunny, 70s, 0-humidity.  It was a busy one though.  Highlights:

  • Open house at the girl’s school.  Sarah gave us a detailed tour of her classroom showing us the work she’s been doing, reading, writing, math.  Anna’s classroom had each desk filled with a “mini-me” replica of each student.  We had to find Anna’s “mini-me” in the crowd.  She  walked me through a science experiment that her class had done and documented in a Powerpoint program.  Powerpoint?!?  In first grade even..with audio clips.
  • Furniture shopping.  We took advantage of the Memorial Day Weekend sales and bought mattresses for the whole family.  Now for the bunk beds and sheets, etc.
  • Enjoyed a friend’s lap pool and beautiful view of the Sound one evening.  The girls haven’t forgotten all their swimming strokes yet.
  • Helped missionary friends move some belongings to storage as they near departure for their home in Europe.
  • Watched The Matrix (that movie is still awesome) with a brutha while Christa watched Twilight with a sista.
  • Took Sarah to a classmate’s birthday party at Pump It Up while Christa took Anna to a barbecue with “old” friends from the camp she used to work at.
  • Did the walk through and signed the lease on our apartment.  Now furnishing…
  • Anna and Sarah did some gardening with grandma and obsessed over the guinea pigs they hope to own some day.  (After China we keep telling them.)
  • With Christa filled out paperwork for visa application so we can return to China.
  • Saw rat try to cross the road only to get run over by a passing SUV.  Yeah, he took it right in the head.  I loved witnessing that!  Felt a little guilty after watching The Tale of Despereaux later, but not too guilty.  Rats are bad!

Obviously this is just a sampling, but gives you an idea of our busy/fun weekend.
