Since I am teaching Sarah pre-K now I get a few hours one-on-one with her every day. Sometimes the dialog proves quite humorous:
Me: Sarah, what do you want to be when you grow up?
Sarah: A ballerina.
Me: Yeah, I want to be a ballerina when I grow up, too.
Sarah: No, Daddy. You’re going to be a grampa when you grow up.
Sometimes she just echoes what she hears most. For example in the last few weeks we’ve heard things like:
"What are you up to, Mischief?" (This is a very fitting, if self-fulfilling, nickname for Sarah.)
"Sorry, I can’t help ya kid."
The girls were recently given a "pet frog" to take care of by one of our teammates. Sarah, who is usually a bit squeamish with bugs and critters in comparison to her older sister quickly overcame her fear and took to holding the frog whenever possible. We had to put a limit on her affection however as we feared for the frog’s untimely demise. Since the days here involve things like feeding the dog, Sandy, caring for a refugee frog, making mudpies, and building bamboo forts out in the backyard is it any wonder that Christa today overhead Sarah say, "I just LOVE Jianzha…"
